Supported by the Shanghai Association for Science and Technology and the Shanghai Chemical Industry and Chemical Society, the "Shanghai Science and Technology Forum—The 3rd Asia-Oceania Symposium for Fire Safety Materials Science" was grandly held at the Shanghai Everbright Convention and Exhibition Center from October 24 to October 27, 2019. Over 350 participants, including top domestic and international experts, academics, and engineers in the field of flame retardancy, gathered to exchange ideas.
The opening ceremony of the forum was chaired by Professor Jiang Pingkai of Shanghai Jiao Tong University. Vice President of Shanghai Research Institute of Chemical Industry Co., Ltd., Zhai Jinguo, and Deputy Dean of the School of Materials Science and Engineering at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Zhou Yongfeng, delivered opening speeches.
The forum invited nearly 30 scholars, including Serge Bourbigot from the University of Lille in France, Y.C. Wang from the University of Manchester in the UK, Kelvin Kei-wei Shen from Rio Tinto Mining in the US, and Oleg Korobeinichev from the Institute of Chemical Kinetics and Combustion of the Russian Academy of Sciences. More than 50 experts from domestic companies were also invited, such as Zhang Zaiyang, a plastics materials engineer at Schneider Electric (China) Co., Ltd.; Yan Dong, a manager for flame-retardant product development at BASF Engineering Plastics; Yang Jie, an advanced research engineer at Midea Household Appliances Manufacturing Co., Ltd.; Hu Yuan,Director of the State Key Laboratory of Fire Science at the University of Science and Technology of China; and Xiao Zenan, a researcher at China Academy of Building Research Co., Ltd. These experts shared technical experiences and discussed industrial application trends based on the forum’s theme.
